Urban heat island of @Freiburg during yesterday’s #heatwave mapped with bikes. While rural areas cooled down to 23°C at 22:00, city centre still had 31ºC! Students @UniFreiburg drove 450 km with 25 #meteobikes to create this amazing map with @leejoeyk
This is a visualization I made in collaboration with Dr. Andreas Christen at the University of Freiburg. Dr. Christen’s students built 25 MeteoBike sensors and coordinated a measurement campaign to collect data about air temperatures across the city of Freiburg.
